Much like the Pale-Headed Brush Finch of Ecuador, however, the commercial is very rare indeed. When I'm lucky enough to catch it, it's never in its entirety, and it's nowhere to be found online. BELIEVE ME, I HAVE TRIED TO FIND IT, and publicly lamented the fact that I had failed.
Until now, people. UNTIL NOW. Fortuitously, I had my Flip out because I was working on something for a friend, and was juuuuust shutting it down when I caught an airing of the commercial. I hit pause, snatched the video camera back up, and finally, FINALLY captured the most amazing thing to ever hit the airwaves 'round these parts. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
(DO you also have godawful local commercials? Links, people. I NEED LINKS!)

speechless.
that's better than the smelly big that showed up to Fashion Week.
Oh, and your lips are equally as glossy when watching tv. I'm truly in awe.
I love it. How is that not a YouTube sensation?! Also, I might have to start writing Fernando fanfic. NO worries, it will TOTALLY involved MeMe.
So it's not as good as Fernando (wow), but it might come close...I submit for your approval one of the many commercials for Dirt Cheap, a discount liquor/smokes store in St. Louis. This one's probably the best/worst.

You are a video STAR, and Fernando is very greasy.
Oh my gosh that is the best thing I have ever laid eyes on!!! I LOVE IT! I think I caught a bit of splatter...
Appliance Direct in Central Florida is nowhere near as awesome as Fernando, but they're still fantastic. Mostly because they only buy 30 minute slots of airtime -- it's hypnotic.
Also, the woman's outfit always matches their logo colors.
Whaaaa?
Holy mother of pearl! You WEREN'T kidding!
Holy jeebus. That woman looks like Tonya Harding.... kind of, in a twisted way. Fernando is creepy as heck, dude.
BUT I think I have him beat. I have Ted Sadler, the Mattress Ranch guy...
Save more bucks at the Mattress Ranch...
I'm sorry. Just.... I'm sorry.
Wow. Really. Wow.
And I thought our car dealership commercials with the dogs sitting on the hoods of the cars were bad - good journalism Metalia!!
You're right. That totally was the best commercial ever.
Oh, sweet mercy. We have nothing that can top THAT. We do have some cheesy radio ads, but nothing anywhere close to Fernando.
I'd call you lucky, but...
That is nothing short of awesome.
There are truly no words for the awfulness of that one.
It's on par with watching an enormously pregnant woman try to heft herself out of the pool without assistance...you want to look away, but you just can't.
I am so very upset that the commercial doesnt play in brooklyn!
I would peeing my pants.
That. Is. Awesome.
I really would've expected better from NYC. But maybe it just means that you have a wider pool of crazy to pull from!
Our local used auto commercials are spectacular:

I could go on. And on. And on. The level of offensiveness just gets more intense the more commercials you watch.
And here's one from another local car salesman—a Cuban gynecologist turned used car hustler. I am not kidding.

That is awesome!
I need to start watching more commercials here to see if we have anything like that. I don't think we have anything that comes close!
I love when he puts the finger on the dude's lips to shush him!
Reminds me of the Zohan...is that about the time this commercial started? LOL
hahahahahahaha
And I agree with Jamie on the Dirt Cheap commercials!
Wow, Fernando takes the cake!
Around here we have commercials for Vern Fonk insurance (found here) and some are better (ie: worse) than others.
Fernando is all sorts of awesome! and the links other people have posted are hilarious - the mattress king (@Kirsten) and the car commercials (@Erin)...there just aren't words for how funny and repulsive they are!
we have an electrician that's been in business here forever that sings on his commercials. not only could i not find it online anywhere, i also found out that they don't even have a website. somehow i'm not that surprised. trust me when i tell you that it's awful. truly, truly awful.
That is awesome! Chicago has some pretty classicly awful local commercials, too. They are about the only thing I'll stop the TIVO for during commercial breaks.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the whiplash sound when he shakes his curls about. Can't get enough. I've watched it over and over.
Fernando lover... guilty as charged.
That was AWESOME- Fernando is my new mascot/hero.
We have a pawn shop dealer here that does commercials with his creepy little son dressed up as his creepy ventriloquism dummy.
They're not so much funny as they are...(here's that word again)...creepy. Very creepy.
Paul from the Diamond Center hosted an entire series of cheesy local commercials here in the SF area. This link is all I could find

but my favorite ever was "I'm the Credit Man" sung to "Soul Man." There is a scene where I think four lovely young ladies are carrying him as he lays on his side lip synching. I loved those commercials so much I wanted to marry them.
Okay, Kate in Central Florida had it right about Appliance Direct. And it's not just the outfit -- the VOICE, oh my god, the voice.
But this? Made me laugh so loud I startled two dogs and a cat. In another room. I would never buy booze anywhere else.
The commercial's are nothing spectacular, but we do have a fellow named Carpet Carl, and another fellow from a completely different company called Marmoleum Mike.
Oh, oh my. That's. WOW.
Fernando's hair reminds me of the "Soul Glo" family on "Coming to America"...This clip is right up there with the Body Snake - I still get grossed out when I think of that guy washing his foot in the "special gift with purchase" thing. I'll see if there are any commercials like that here in Cincy...will be sure to send!
Wow. I can't top that. But I do love me some local ads.
Scardina plumbing -- they know their ads are so awesome that they put them on their site.
Next Day Floors -- how do I get on their list of available actors?
Eastern Motors - sorry if you can't stop singing that song ...
Or this one, Gebco Insurance ...
Wow, that's fantastic! We have bad local commercials here, but nothing nearly that interesting.
He kinda reminds me of a scary Slash sans big hat . . .
I don't think it's local, but have you seen this one?

It kind of makes me ill. I feel embarrassed for the both of us when I catch it on TV.
Erin's links are making me so proud of my home town. :-)
In their old commercials Bobby Denning would zoom around the store in his motorized wheelchair/scooter thing. Now he has gone high class.

This guy drives us crazy but he's no Fernando...

we have a local commercial with a creepy old man using sexual innuendos to sell carpet. it makes my skin crawl. i'll try to flip cam it.
You will likely get this jingle stuck in your head. You have been forewarned!

OMH. How IS it that I live in that area and I have NEVER seen that commercial? It has to be the differences in cable carriers.
No links yet, though I'll keep looking.
How about the ones from Dr. Ken Hurt (a dentist) whose slogan is, "it's just a name, not my intention."
Or Linda Beaver (big hair Texas broad) from Beaver Toyota that is mostly just us laughing at her name and accent and, yes, we are 12 yrs old. (Linda, if you google yourself, I'm sorry)
